When people hear the term "eating disorder” they often think of anorexia or bulimia. This can make people think that they don’t have an eating disorder because they believe they are not “thin enough” or that they can’t have an eating disorder as they are not purging. However, eating disorders can present in a number of ways, can have a number of causes, and are not dependent on being a certain weight or engaging in certain behaviours.
Likewise, body image difficulties can include a range of presentations, from low self-esteem, to concern about weight and shape as a part of an eating disorder, to body dysmorphic disorder.
All of these difficulties can range in severity and duration - but all have a significant impact on your quality of life. We have written a summary of some of the conditions we are able to help with, alongside some information and resources that might help you start your journey towards recovery.
